Easiest way to remove hair algae?

When my tank was cycling I got a lot of hair algae. I bought 5 turbo snails which seemed to do the trick. It was cool seeing the trail of clean rock behind them.

    The Loch Ness!

UPDATE: My yellow head goby did not come out as it usually does every night. It seemed strange since it has been eating very well. I looked around the tank and sure enough I found him dead behind a rock. Before I could net him out, I saw none other than ANOTHER mantis shrimp!!! Back on the hunt...

    Aiptasia

I have many many large Aiptasia in my tank, I would say about 20 quarter size or bigger! I bought Aitasia-X, If i "treat" them all do I need to worry about my water quality like other large anemone?

    The Loch Ness!

+ Thanks All, I believe you are all right who said the hermit did not eat the shrimp. Water tests all came back fine, but I think I may have done a poor job acclimating him. I acclimated the shrimp the same time as two cardinals I got, when I should have let him acclimate much longer.

    Srsevy's 120gal Reef Tank

The light system I use are 8 t5 bulbs, (4x daylight HO and 4x Blue dawn/dusk) plus 8 night blue LED moon lights. They are connected to three digital timers to keep lighting consistent.

    The Loch Ness!

UPDATE: Here is a little story about recent events regarding the Mantis hunt: (with pictures of course) Using crazy ninja skills I caught the Mantis Shrimp! With This! (after many failed attempts with traps, I took this out and it thought I had food, so I just picked it up.... it was...

    Srsevy's 120gal Reef Tank

I just ordered cultured rock from FL, I know it is risky using ocean rock, but I saved a ton of money! All of the LFS were charging about $9-12 a lb. and I have over 200lbs.. With the stuff I got, there was a lot of dead growth. Plus I did not use DI water at first, so that slowed the process...

    Green wrasse buried himself?

I am sorry Chris, I lost mine as well. The dog did not get to him, but he somehow jumped out through a small area near the filter and I did not find him in time.. :(

    Srsevy's 120gal Reef Tank

I can not seem to figure out how to edit my original post to add captions, but the pictures are sort of a progression of the tank from start to present. The tank no longer has a hair algae problem. The light system I have is 8 T5 bulbs. 4 HO bulbs and 4 Dawn/Dusk. There are also 8 moon LED...

    Srsevy's 120gal Reef Tank

Hello All, I have been working on my tank for the last 7 months. My original $500 upgrade from fresh water to salt water was to just have a few fish. My family got involved and it quickly turned into a full reef tank with dedicated DI water line for easy water changes. I really like taking...

    The Loch Ness!

Thanks everyone for all of the great advice! I will work on getting him out tonight. As long as it goes to the same rock as last night, I will be able to remove the rock without disturbing the surrounding rock. I am contacting my LFS about it, hopefully they will give me some store credit so I...

    The Loch Ness!

Thanks for the help! I just google searched them, they get huge! Yes, I would like to catch it if possible. The LFS seemed interested but now I don't know since it is not a nice pet.. It may have killed some fish, all of my cardinals died but I thought it was because my current was too...

    New Guy!

Yeah its a small yellow tang, I also have a small blue hippo tang that you can sort of see in this shot. As for the large anemone, For some reason it has been moving all over my tank. It crawled into my filter and survived. I got tired of it going back up there so I moved it to the other side...
