I have the Bubble Magus 3+. Wondering how good / and how often I should clean it? Is it ok to wait until the cup is almost full (takes about 2 days), or should I be emptying it more often? Also is it ok to empty and rinse, or is it better to give it a better cleaning each time?

As a sidenote I notice that sometiimes it has a mild, fishy odor. But other times smells like...well I better not go there. Is that par for the course?

The smell is par for the course. As long as you empty if before if overflows you are fine. Rinse it in warm tap water, making sire to get all the hoop our of the neck, you may have to use your fingers. Then replace it and let it fill again.

I have the same skimmer, and I empty it out when it gets about halfway. It can actually handle a lot more but I wouldn't let it become a bad habit.

Here was mine after it's first week. My previous skimmer had failed a bit prior. (Excuse the gloves, I'm a wuss).

Where the cup joins the skimmer, I notice that mine tends to collect some 'sludge' around the neck (in the body of the skimmer, not the neck of the cup). I have to wipe that clean every few weeks, but it probably needs some adjustment.

In regards to the smell, it's par, as fast said. It's fish waste, secretions, and god knows what else, after all.
