Is it possible to propagate a sponge and if so how?

Current Aquarium(s) Description: 28g reef - 24" Aquatic Life HOT5 double, DIY Algea Scrubber, 30-40 lbs LR

I thought I read something about putting them in a blender; but don't take my word for it.

Current Aquarium(s) Description: 75 gallon planted tank, 40 gallon reef

I have heard of doing that with mushrooms but not sponges

I wouldn't be surprised if you could just cut a piece off, depending on the type of sponge. I'm thinking like a tree sponge or finger sponge. Just make sure it's all done under water. Exposure to air will kill it for sure.

Mushrooms.....in a blender....??? That'll make a strange martini for sure!

I think if you can get a piece of sponge, you can mount it in much the same fasion as any other frag. I may be wrong, but I've seen pieces of the same sponge I have in my LFS just laying on the sand bed.
