acan placement in tank

Reefing newb
So I've had this really nice orange/white/purple aussie acan for about 6 months now.
It's been in my 30gal tank for pretty much all that time, and it's done great. About 7 heads when I bought it, and there's around 11 or 12 now.

In the 30gal, they were under a Marine Land LED fixture.
but now, it is in my new 70gal tank, and since I'm not ready to move ALL the rocks over, it's been sitting on the sand bed. Been fine for about a week, but the past 2 days it's seemed to get smaller, and not expand as much.
So I thought that it wasn't getting enough light, and moved it up in the middle of the tank

I use the Taotronics fixtures with dimmers/seperate white and blue cords that hang down.

Anyone else have ideas on where I should place this coral?
It is possible that it could just be my water at the moment..My alkalinity is low, but I would like some insight on this regardless.
Thanks

Acans are an LPS and like lower lighting, so the sand bed should be fine for it. I don't know anything about Taotronics lights however. What are your water parameters?
