Barnacle Bill the Sailor

Hello all,
I am new to saltwater aquariums but I am planning to start with a simple barnacle tank. I am thinking of feeding my barnacles Kent Marine Microvert food, but I do not know if they eat it - it may be too fine for their cirri arms to catch. Do you know if this is good enough for them? I wonder if fish pellets (basically freeze dried shrimp and algae and stuff) crushed up to the right size and consistency, and sprinkled on them, will be good for them to eat.
What do barnacles need? do they need occasional air like in a tide pool, or are they supposed to be submerged always?
Anything else I should know?
What level of filtration do they need?
