COMMON NAME – Bluehead Wrasse

SIZE – 7 in (18 cm)

RANGE - Caribbean

MIN. AQUARIUM SIZE– 75 gal (284 L)

CARE LEVEL - Intermediate

TEMPERAMENT – Semi-aggressive

FOODS AND FEEDING - Should be fed a variety of high quality marine meaty foods. Will also eat other crustaceans.

AQUARIUM SUITABILITY -

REEF COMPATIBILITY – With Caution, they wont eat corals but may go after decorative shrimp.

CAPTIVE CARE – They can be aggressive to new tankmates so they should be added last to a new tank. They may harass more docile fish, and eat smaller fish. They can also be kept with a mate if the tank is larger than 125 gallons. Males have a black and white strip pattern that divides the blue head from the blue-green and yellow posterior. Females have two black stripes and are entirely turquoise. Juveniles are usually yellow with black markings. They prefer a tank with lots of rockwork and a sand bed to burrow in. Wrasses are known jumpers so the aquarium top should be covered.
