I can only hope this post reaches you in time before you go and buy some expensive hole saw guide. The only thing you need is flowing water, drill with a clutch, glass hole saw and some plumbers putty. Its simple, easy and does not take a lot of time. Youtube and Glass-holes.com are both great resources.

don`t need plumbers putty or drill with clutch... Any drill actually does the trick... Just no rush and that`s it :)

bring aquarium or part of it, in to the shower or bathroom ... and just continues flow of water over glass, drilling area... Start drilling in angle, slow and without pressure, then, when after (few rows), and when the drill has dag in to the glass just little bit, start slowly alingning drill with the glass, till all drill are touches glass...

To take it from all this: water (or ice to cool down, or special cooling sprays), slow, no preasure!

If you think you must or need mental support, practice on a smaller piece of non tempered window glass. .. or two.. then when you have a good hole use it as a guide to get it started and hold the drill in the right place on the tank glass...you can duck tape it to the tank glass. This also gives you a place to keep pouring water... TAKE YOUR TIME! .... hold the drill level and let the weight of the drill and (in my case) Dewatt do the work... but hold back and baby the last little bits.. making sure it doesn't jump through.
