sand vs crushed coral

Crushed coral tends to accumulate waste more than sand.

Plus your clean up crew can't burrow through crushed coral to clean the substrate

When I got my 125 gallon I went with the sand instead of the crushed coral which was in my previous tank. The crushed stuff is a pain because of all the crap that settles in it. No verdict on the sand yet since it's only a week old. Horseshoe crab likes it better though.

Always used arragonite sand, was the popular pole when I started so kept with it, horseshoe crab, nass snails, and conchs burrow wright in

id go with sand. hands down.

Sand, crushed coral will only make you angry. Just make sure the sand isnt too fine or it will make a sandstorm in your tank.

Use sand. If you use crushed coral odds are you'll end up having to scoop it all out and replace it with sand down the road.
