White live rock?

I just received these rocks from a friend. Are they some different kind of rock? orrr...?

they are just scrubbed baserock at this point. It will take time for them to become live again. You will need some piece of wet live rock to seed them.
 
When LR under stress or under too much light all of a sudden, it'll bleach out like that. Experienced first hand here when I first started.

On the other hand, I have some LRs that never see any light. They are in my sump. Even after years, they still have no color, while those in DT keep getting more purple and red.
 
I agree with Cathic, that's normal base rock, which is what the majority of us have had before it turned live. Over time, it'll turn live and colorful if added with a tank with live rock in it.
 
Note that the actual rock is not changing colors, what happens is you have different coraline algae grow on it, plus other algae which will change the color of the rock.
