Upgrading .. Maybe

I only have LPS. Mushrooms and Zoas. I don't have any SPS. I have my lights on now 12 hours.

With those,I think you could get by with 150 watt halides. But I'd hang at least 4 bulbs over that tank. Then if you ever wanted more light intensive corals, you could place them higher in the tank.

I only run my halides for 6 hours over my sps tank. Stony corals can only consume calcium for 6 hours. So anything past that is just for viewing. I do run my t5s for 7 hours so I can see the corals a little longer.

I think if you ran 3 250 watt halides with good quality reflectors like a large lumenbright or lumenmax you could run them for 6 to 7 hour no problem.

He said he would sell the 220 tank and 3X 250W, and 6X 65W PC for $600. He said they would cost .95 a day to run for 10 hours. How does that sound ? And is the price good ?

Lemme see about that electric bill...

My electric rate is 11.3 cents per kilowatt hour.
3 x 250 watts + 6 x 65 watts = 1,140 watts = 1.14 kw per hour
1.14 kw x 9 hours = 10.26 kw hours
10.26 kw hours x 11.3 cents = $1.16 per day

95 cents a day in an area with cheaper electricity sounds about right. You will have to look at your own electric bill to see what your rates are, though.

I think that's a fantastic price.

Ours is 8.4 cents. I think he said his was 8 cents. He's a town over from me. Does the price sound good for the tank and lights ?

Never mind, just seen what you said about the price ... lol Putting glasses on now .. :)

I just called him and said we will be picking them up tomorrow. It will be awhile before we get it set up. Have to make a stand for it. I will be taking it slow getting everything transferred over.
