Kev's new 20 gal. reef sump free

Nice lookin tank, Kev. I really like the light. I'm partial to the bluer look. I have a deep blue background on my 5g, I prefer the black, though, I had that on my 75. It kept falling off, it wasn't paint, obviously, the 5g is. The rock work looks good, too.

How long do you quarintine or dip your new fish before you put them into your DT?

the dips/baths link is good. There are some folks who treat proactively for ich and internal parasites, or those, like me, who watch during 6 weeks of QT for new fish and if they develop something, I'd treat with appropriate meds, according to directions and then after treatment is complete, I'd...

    Turning Freshwater into Saltwater!

What about a ribbon eel and some smaller, more aggressive fish; a wrasse of some sort or a pigmy angel fish, coral beauty. In the unanswered posts forum there are a bunch of wrasse varieties listed, maybe one will grab your attention

    Acclimating fish

I use a quarantine tank, keep new fish in for 6 weeks. At week 5 I start to change out the water in QT with water from DT, then just move the newbie to the DT at the end of the 6 weeks if they've stayed disease free, or 6 weeks after any treatment I may have done. I do drip acclimate for about 3...

    AnnMarie's 75g

Thanks for all the compliments! It's been a year now that I've had the tank, the previous owner had it for about two years before I inherited it. It was worth the trade I made: I bought a TV for my son's new house and I got to keep the tank. I thought it was fair cuz even though he got the tank...

What order should I buy my fish in?

I had a pair of maroon clowns in my 75, since they were a mated pair, they were fine. I would put the clowns in last since they can be territorial together. Just remember the jawfish will burrow and your LR needs to be stable, so adding that second to last is what I'd do, the bi-color could go...

    Green Hair Algae

The zoas are usually pretty hardy. I went through a green HA outbreak when my 75 first came to me and I ran the lights very sparingly for a while, but the button polyps just shrunk quite a bit and have since come back and are growing quickly now.

Thanks all. I will watch the goby with the acro, I've read that they can nip at the polyps.
