    Remote Sump Setup Help

I think the way you have it drawn out can work , but equalizing the flow would almost be impossible which could cause possible flooding issues. I would plumb it the following way so that flooding risk would be minimized and the flow issue would be non-existent since you would only need one...

    Mag 5 should work nicely

    Bryopsis Algae

I had bryopsis and I had to really raise up my mag levels to eventually kill it out, now I dont have any. I heard that there is some by-product in that Kent Tech M that is what really takes out the brypsis. That is what I used and it seemed to work with no ill effects to the tank.

    Concrete blocks

I thought that he was talking about using cinder blocks, which I dont think is a good idea. If making your own with the aragocrete method then it would work.

    Concrete blocks

I would think that there would be some sort of leaching of chemicals into the water, but someone may chime in and refute that.

    Yellow Tang Feeding

if you have an adequate CUC and a fuge with cheato or a scrubber i don't see why there should be an issue as long as its not the whole sheet ending up in the tank

    Yellow Tang Feeding

maybe try a smaller piece. Still lose some to the power heads and the overflow, but thats what the CUC is for. I try to put a small piece in about every three days and the rest of the time you can see mine picking at rocks and the back glass. when I put mysis in the tank every other day with...

    My 55gal Experiment

Looks really good. How big is that return section? You might have to top off the system quite often since that is where you will see the evaporation.

    New discovery!

Second one looks like aptasia or Mojano (i would kill it with aptasia x) the first one sounds like a feather duster, but a better picture would help confirm that

    green turf algae????

The thing that solved the bryopsis issue in my tank was keeping the water pristine and bringing up the mag levels with daily dosing in combination with a scrubber. It takes a while to get rid of it, but my tank looked like a golf course in some places.

    algae scrubber or fuge?

I ran a fuge for about four months before I added my scrubber and my trates were always 0. I added the scrubber because I needed a way to eliminate the hair algae from the display. My stand is also strained for space, i built my scrubber to be almost self contained and then it drains into the...

    GFO & Carbon Reactor

Personally, I have not had any issues running my BRS dual reactor, but I had a bunch of rocks that had soaked up phosphate. I also run a scrubber (probably overkill, i know) as well as a fuge. Maintaining the reactors is another thing you have to maintain as well as another pump that is...

Good to hear. Glad it's all working out finally!

    sump build try 2!

If by messed up you mean blowing micro bubbles, try giving it a couple of days and it may work itself out. Glad that it was just a low water issue. Good Luck

    sump build try 2!

From my understanding of the situation, this is what it sounds like to me... If the water level lowers in the return section, but the display does not over flow you may not have quite enough water in the system. The return section is the only area where you will look like you are losing water...
