    DIY base rock...a la Garf

I agree with the 6-8 weeks soaking time, when I first made the DIY rock video I had not fully cured the first rocks. So the longer you can cure the cement, and disolve the salt the better. Once the salinity levels in the water are at of very near 0, then it will be safe. I wouldn't worry about...

    +1 to those above.

Project, congrats on the rocks. I think it will look great when you load that tank up. Especially if you plan on doing more caves and tunnels. The only kind of rock salt I would avoid is the stuff that has the round, man made stuff in it. I think it is a slower disolving man made grain for...

I finally can buy stuff!!! HELP!!!

Have you ever tried the external durso pictured? From what I understand what made a durso quiet was that the water blocking the air from making a sucking noise in the DT, and only the pinhole being available for aiflow into the drain line. That looks simple enough, and if it works, I think...

I finally can buy stuff!!! HELP!!!

I think I've come up with a solution that combines all the ideas I've gotten. It's still in the works, but I'll draw up a rough draft when I'm at work w/ nothing else to do (probably over the next two days). I've gotten some good feedback about the elbow joint drain fixture. The massive elbow...

    150 or 250 Watts?

150 over a 26 would be sweet! I like overkill, but a 250 would be a little too much overkill. How many T5's and what size?

In the long run I don't think that will matter, I just used the pool sand since it is a softer sand and is less likely to have heavier metals in it.

Every time I pick up my peices I too get a few tiny peices that break off. I would assume that its not going to hurt anything, especially since the breakoff is so small that it isn't really exposing much. And nothing the rock is made from is harmful to your tank, so I'm not really sure what...

I finally can buy stuff!!! HELP!!!

I think the site looks great! I like the color choices. Okay, so .... I went to a LFS (first time I had gone to this particular one), and the guy there gave me some advise. He said to ditch the durso and overflow box, and go with largebulkheads, an elbow joint, and a bulkhead screen pointed up...

I finally can buy stuff!!! HELP!!!

I'm going to hold off on lighting until I do more research. But I am ready to buy the pump. Mag drive 18? I'm also still looking for a decent heater chiller controller. Any help on this would be apreciated very much. I value the opinions I get here. Thanks again everyone.

I finally can buy stuff!!! HELP!!!

I try to stay organized. I know that if I don't do things right the first time, I'll end up buying the right stuff eventually. If no one things that a mag drive 18 is overkill for a 37G diplay, a 20G refugium, and a 10 gal sump, then I'm going to order it tonight. If you have anyt houghts...

I finally can buy stuff!!! HELP!!!

BTW RFD definately do the 75, I kinda wish I hadn't gotten the 37 tall, it's proven to be a huge pain. But on the flip side, when its all done it is easier to see into a tall tank. Its your call, but I think bigger is better (if you can afford it). This is a pretty conservative estimate for the...

I finally can buy stuff!!! HELP!!!

Okay, so ditch the odyssea light, that seems to be unanimous. I also went ahead and put a mag 18 in my cart at "drs F&S". Will that be excessive if I'm going for a low-flow refugium (100-150GPH)? I'll have the ball valves on all of the return lines, will too much backpressure do any harm to...
