Anyone ever added one after one has been established a long time? I thought I heard they would fight? But at this point I never see him anyway, so what do I have to lose? It's a six foot long tank, I hope if they did fight they would claim their own territory on opposite ends and not kill...

I never see my purple firefish anymore :( I mean, I can see him if I look in the cave he hides out in, and he comes out for only a few seconds to eat. But he used to be out all the time. It seems as I added more fish, with each fish I added he would be scared and hide for a few days...

So, you put it over the pipe so that in case a fish goes into the overflow it won't go all the way down? Is there some reason you wouldn't glue it over the sides of the overflow as a barrier so they don't get into the overflow at all? That was what I was planning to do.

I just can't believe he fit through the slits that are only probably a half cm wide because his head looks bigger than that! My midas blenny went over the overflow once and then I realized it was the way I had adjusted the powerhead the day before that pushed the water and him up and over it...

I guess it's worth a try, whatever plastic screen I can find. I was thinking maybe those plastic grids that people use for algae scrubbers. More fun with super glue this weekend! For now he's enjoying his private life in the sump.

My concern with screen too small is that it would quickly become gunked over with food. Also would the screen being in the water leach bad stuff, or disintegrate? You'd think fabric screen would eventually fall apart...can't use metal...I was thinking plastic coated large metal screen, but...
