I have a toadstool that I purchased about a month ago and I am seeing some really great growth. It's base is about the diameter of a roll of quarters. My concern is that it is attached to a small piece of rock rubble. Its not nearly large enough to weigh it down anymore. I have picked a perfect...
What type of shrimp goby would you recomend? Obviously it would have to be peaceful and compatable with the onther 2 gobys I am getting. I know its a 210 and there is ample room and hiding places for them but I just want to make sure I am not pressing my luck.
I am looking at adding a few new additions to my tank. First off I should mention I already have an algae blenny. The two fish I am thinking of adding consist of 1 diamond watchman goby (with pistol shrimp eventually) and the second is an engineer goby. I know two gobys shouldnt be together but...
As stated above, add more live rock. But first, how much live rock do you currently have? Live rock is the base to forming beneficial bacteria along with live sand.
My main question is what exactly does an algae scrubber help with. I understand that it grows algae but does that also mean it prevents it from forming in th DT? Personally I would think that it just developed a new place for it to group rather than eliminate it from the display tank. Any help...
How would someone determine what is an apprpoerate ammout of led's to use then?. I mean enough to provide sufficient lighting to house just about anything without being so much that it bleaches corals?
I am looking at building my own LED fixture however I am curious how much wattage it should have. Its a standard 55 gallon tank and I am thinking I'll be adding corals later. Currently I have a T5 fixture that houses 4 54 watt bulbs (2 actinic and 2 10k) for a total of 216 watts witch seems...
one build thread I saw showed the use of 36 of the 3 watt led's. that a total wattage of 108 watts. Is that enough to provide enough lighting for corals?
Not that I have corals at this point but you never know, things may change. What is it about the led's I found VS the ones Rapid sells that makes them better for corals. That's really the reason I was going to use so many bulbs. I was under the impression that its the light output, thus the...
