    What the PH...?

PH doesn't matter too much through the cycling process It alters naturally throughout the day depending on lights , oxygen & alk Start your cycle. Don't buffer or chase parameters It will settle just fine on its own

    How much live rock?

The old 2lbs per gallon is not used as much any more With things like marine pure. Seachem matrix now available The need for that is terribly old fashioned Create the scape you like and add media to your sump ! Minimal rock. Open swim spaces have huge advantages too Better flow. Less...

    New 8 x 4 x 2.5 Build

HI, Well the new 7 x 2.5 x 2.5 peninsular has been sold and the new build begins. Our current tank is 12 months old on the 12th Dec. We have quickly run out of room and right from the start was annoyed that we hadnt gone wider with this build. We had the room. We thought about longer but didnt...

    Whose the boss ?

Ok. It's been 8 weeks since all new stock added after a huge loss 6 months ago to Ich. Pleased to say no sign of Ich although I am running an extremely large UV now. No aggression, all hand feeding & lopezi tang allowing us to actually pat him. So great confidence for such a short time...

Ready to give up:( need help please!

Hi. Sorry to hear about your bad luck : Firstly, what are your actual numbers. It is very hard to answer questions regarding problems like this without actual numbers. We need Sal, Mag, Alk, Cal, phos and nitrates. I am assuming ammonia and nitrites are 0.00 (but would def be worth testing them...

    Nitrates won't go down!!

@Old Tom I agree with everything you have said except the sand bed. I run a shallow sand bed it's only 2cm in depth. The secret to having a shallow bed is to make sure it is clean, lots of cuc & raking or siphoning often. I removed my deep sand bed from my sump on an upgrade & haven't...

    Welcome home " Ripley"

Yes. It's a sea cucumber. They can be toxic to the tank if die a stressful death due to incorrect parameters or aggression. But if they just die a natural death they are not a problem. They don't like nitrates at all so low nutrients are very important.

    Welcome home " Ripley"

We put him back on sand last night, and now we cant find him. So stupid considering how blood big he is. Will see if we can notice him when lights kick on . Thanks.

He climbed the glass last night. , wrapped himself around the return pipe & hasn't moved. ? Is that odd or normal. ? Was really hoping he may start in the sand bed ?

    Spot the fish ??

I contacted a reputable lfs about 1000kms away. He agreed to QT them for me and sent me update pics and videos on a weekly basis for 7 weeks. He removed anyone that was being aggressive and replaced, he only sent fish that were eating and getting along. I didn't have a QT tank big enough to...
