    Tiny (yet healthy) Nem

I have a green bubble tip nem that split back in October. Over time, both have healed nicely, but I've been unable to figure out why they have appeared to shrink over the last two months. They look and act perfectly healthy in every way, except they have become very tiny. Anyone ever see this...

    Anemone foot loss

Sorry to say; cutting the foot off wasn't the way to go. That being said, I probably would have turned off the wave maker and then positioned a power head at it. This would have irritated it enough to make it relocate.

    Choosing an Automatic Feeder

Good Morning All :) I will be away from home for about a week and am making preparations for my tank to sustain itself while I am away. My RODI filter is connected to a water supply and then to a float in the sump, so maintaining my water level will be covered. I also have a battery backup on...

Introducing New Fish to a Tank

I have another at the LFS that I am picking up tomorrow. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Introducing New Fish to a Tank

Thank you for the detailed response. I've had these clowns for about 3 years now. They have not spawned up until now so I feel it is unlikely that they will spawn at all. The clear plastic container is something that crossed my mind. I also thought about reorganizing the aquascape, destroying...

Introducing New Fish to a Tank

My 15 gal tank has a variety of corals but only 2 tomato clowns each hosted by bubble tip anemones. I firmly believe that you shouldn't add more than 1 fish every other month so that the bacteria base can grow to handle the increased bio load. It has been 2 years since I've added fish. I...

Clown fish has a hermit crab stuck in its mouth.

I've seen that happen before... to my tomato clown! Your clown tried to eat the crab. Are you feeding enough? When that happened to me, I netted them both and placed them in gauze soaked in their tank water. Then, I took a close look and found the clown impaled itself on one of the crab's legs...

Mars Aqua 12 LED light: IMPORTANT UPDATE

Something else that is important to know.... I have been operating the light manually until the new one I purchased from Dr. Foster & Smith arrives. The light's intensity leaves something to be desired. Many of my coral frags didn't open when the light came on until I moved them higher in the...

Mars Aqua 12 LED light: IMPORTANT UPDATE

This was obvious to me. It should be obvious to the people designing the light for "reef" use. The light isn't bad for the money. As accent lighting which you turn on and off as needed, this light is fine. But that you can not automate its function is a disqualifying detail in my view.

Mars Aqua 12 LED light: IMPORTANT UPDATE

Hi, I have some important information regarding the MARS AQUA light (link below): This light has a huge design flaw; it does NOT function with a TIMER. As reef keepers, we rely on automation as consistency in lighting is as important as it is in water quality...

    Mars Aqua LED Lighting

Hello :) I just received my Mars Aqua 12 LED light: http://www.ebay.com/itm/151699690404?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=450901883385&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT The instruction sheet that came with it was very limited and would like to know if anyone else has this light and if they were...

    Water change containers?

I use a Rubbermaid 20 gallon which works very well; no seams to split as it is extruded plastic. I've placed it on a pedestal and installed a beverage-grade spigot. This allows me to mix my water and then take what I need from the tap easily.

    Post BTA Split

I have a green BTA that split about three weeks ago. Up until the split, it was huge, vibrant, the tentacles were gorged with water... this thing was THRIVING. Since the split, THEY don't seem as vibrant as they had when it was one. They still have an appetite, and nothing else in the tank has...

    What is this thing?

These things are all over my tank. They used to be on the glass at the back of the tank, but now, I'm noticing them on my live rock. I've included a picture. They are very tiny. The pic is a super zoomed in shot of one on my live rock. Can anyone tell me: 1. What is it? 2. Where do they come...

New 55 Gallon tank, compatibility and filtration questions

Have a look at this comparability chart. I wouldn't rely solely on this chart; its a good idea to have a few sources. Google: "Saltwater Fish Compatibility Chart" http://www.liveaquaria.com/general/compatibility_chart.cfm You have to be patient. If you add too many inhabitants at one time...
