    saltwater aquarium build

Looks good. Wouldn't worry about the pump keeping up, the overflow will only drain out as much as it gets back provided you have the correct amount of water in the system. I like having the valve on the drain for maintenance.

I don't think I could wait this long to get a tank up and running. I would love to have a in wall tank but don't have room at this house. I'd like to here how hear what you think of the RKL when every thing is up and running. I am looking at that system too. I think it may help get rid of...

    Glass AND Acrylic tank?

You should be able to buy different colored or frosted glass at a glass shop. In the sump there is equal pressure on both sides of the divider so there isn't much the glue has to do.

Acrylic tanks, Love or hate them?

My brother had one for awhile, It was good until coraline algae grew on it. Could not clean it off without scratching it.

Glueing PVC pipe to bulkhead fittings (ABS)?

I used zip ties on mine so I could take it apart for cleaning if needed.

That is about the ugliest website I've seen in years. (fishneedit.com) I like the fixture if they had a 4 ft. 6 bulb I might go for it. You may want to top off your tank, that filter is going to splash all over your fixture. I have one of those on my QT, salt creep all over the back of the tank.

    Get Read, Get Set.... SUMP

I had the 1000 gph eshopps overflow with a mag 9.5 and it was very noisy. There is a "mini dorso" you can setup in the box to help with the gurgling. Also I would get the 1000 gph and use the 2nd side as a backup in case of a plugged drain. I don't think you need the hose clamps, zip ties work...

    Sump Build

I just saw this thread. Looking at the pictures of your sump I would have thought you built these on a regular basis. Thanks for the great pictures and how to. I was/am to chicken to attempt this. All I see when I think of me doing this is miss matched pieces of acrylic that will be more of a...

    My Moving Plan: Advice Wanted!

I used an airline tube to pull the air out of the utube. As long as both ends are under water the tube will not loose its syphon. The clear tube is from my overflow box and the pvc is just pressed together, the seal was good enough to work as there wasn't that much flow. The pump is only rated...

    My Moving Plan: Advice Wanted!

If you leave the fish in totes overnight here is a picture of how I did mine. I used U tubes and a power head to keep the water moving and heated in 3 totes. I put a power head in the front tote with the hose going to the tote on the right. It worked like a double overflow. I have the fish and...

    My Moving Plan: Advice Wanted!

I left the sand in my 90 when I moved. It wasn't real deep only 1 1/2 ". I think as long as you don't twist the tank the bottom should be fine. I just noticed #8 I don't think it will be safe to move with that much water. I drained mine as much as I could get out and saved almost all water. I...
