    Not sure

Not sure where this fits but heres my cautionary story. Had my 35 gallon hex running very good for well over a year. Went to bed one night, woke up the next morning and my fish died. One sole survivor was a goby. Didnt add anything to the tank, kept up with the cleanings. Very odd. My clowns...

    Canister filter?

I use a marineland canister and a skimmer for my 55. Also use 3 powerheads. This is for a work tank. Even when i go on vacation and the tank doesnt get its bi-weekly cleaning / water changing its still very clear with good water levels. I dont have any other mechanics in it except the heater...

My bio cube 32 is cycled! Yay! Now what?

Two clowns are fine. Just dont overload it. When I was running a biocube at work we did 2 clowns and a jawfish. The rest were clean up crew type. Its a neat little tank but they do get dirty fast. Good luck.

Cycling a tank, adding fish and corals

I do not have a skimmer on my 35 hex and everything is doing good. Just keep up on water changes.

    Having a semi major issue

I have about 6 different lfs where I go...I think the problem is 4 of them sell anything while the other 2 give me advice as to what goes with what. I think I need to stick to the 2 since the other 4 give me crap advice...

    Having a semi major issue

That's why I'm here...for advice. I tried a bi color angel but the yellow was being a bully. I switched him up for the other two tangs (plus extra $$). The yellow is slightly smaller then the other two so he only bullied for a few hours. Both new tangs have been eating the past 2 days so...

    Having a semi major issue

7 fish in 6 weeks (added the clowns together). I thought rule of thumb was a fish a week. I check the water weekly with no issues. Like I said...I also keep on top of the cleaning. So are you saying adding once a week is a stress thing or a bio load thing? Let me say my home tank is fine and all...

    Having a semi major issue

I probably should have done more research. What I had read (Google) was that 55 is the smallest recommended for tangs and you have to keep an odd number...of different tang types. Upon checking more into it now I should have stayed with the yellow and called it a day.

    Having a semi major issue

With the tangs it's 7 fish...not 10. I understand what's you're saying where they may get stressed...that's not my intent. Just want a nice tank with healthy fish.

    Having a semi major issue

I have a new filter and a good skimmer. I'm also ocd with water changes. Hopefully it works out. It's a work tank so I'm not solely in control. My home tank doesn't have any tangs (it's small at 35).

    Having a semi major issue

I based the 3 tang thing off of the lfs and a few people I know who've had salt. I was always told to keep 1 fish for approximately 10 gallons. Since the non tangs are rather small I figured 7 in a 55 wouldn't be an over stretch. I've been doing salt for just under a year so I'm in no way an...

    Having a semi major issue

The other two are small (about 3-4 inches). I was under the impression that small tangs in a group of 3 was fine. The tanks clean since I do water changes every 10 days. Should I return two of them?

    Having a semi major issue

So the tank is doing super. Its fully stocked and added two more tangs today. I was against adding the clown tang since the tank is too small but if it lives until i get back to work in 3 days I might exchange it for a hippo (its 4-5 inches long in a 55 gallon). The Brown tank is beautiful and...
