    Chaeto

I received my Chaeto algae in the mail today. It came with the aglae and rock rubble. The algae it prretty compacted and since I have never dealt with this algae before, i was wondering if I needed to seperate it at all. Or is it suppose to be pretty compacted? Here on some pictures of it. Thanks!!

    Finished Sump...well almost.

I was actually thinking about that today. I watched the evaporation over the past couple of days and it is not a whole lot. I could probably let it go for a couple of weeks before worrying. I will be adding a top off system here in the next month or so to prevent that section from going dry.

    Finished Sump...well almost.

I was just looking at that on ebay...scary....that and a rio 1400. The guys from AquaC said I can use the Rio1400 with my HOB skimmer so I can put a longer hose on it to still use it as a HOB skimmer on my sump...its all comin together :bounce:

    Finished Sump...well almost.

Yes I was talking about the return line. I adjusted the water in the sump today and now it can accomadate all backflow from the return line. I simulated a power failure at least 5 times this morning lol. Everything seems to work great. Now I just need to find some macro algae. There is no where...

    Finished Sump...well almost.

Yeah i thought about that actually. I may end up leaving the skimmer on the main. For one it oxygenates the water for me a bit and the sumps water level isnt high enough for a HOB skimmer. I could probably lengthen the hose between the skimmer the and pump but I don't know if that would effect...

    Finished Sump...well almost.

Well I pretty much have my sumped finished after months of planning, redesigning, etc. Today I put it all together and tested it and it works great. I have a 20g High seperated into 3 sections. As you can see below, the middle section is the overflow from the main. The left section is the return...

    what's this?

It is kind of hard to see. It appears to be Coralline Algae (good stuff). Is it hard like rock, or is soft or spungy??

    Will this tank work fine?

You could use that tank. You just need to decide what kind of tank you want. FOWLR, Reef, etc...I think it could be an interesting tank once all setup. The only problem I see you running into, is space for you equipment...Hopefully someone else will chime in on this too.

    Question about a waterchange...

You do not want to expose your corals to air for very long. If it is only for a few minutes you should be just fine. I have read of people leaving some corals out of the water for up to half an hour while re-arranging, cleaning, etc... You just dont want them to become dry. I wouldn't recommend...

    Sump Equipment

I see what are you are saying. The height difference between my sump and my main display will be about 4-4.5 feet. Plus I will be installing a ball valve to control the water flow back to the main display. Thanks for the quick replys!

    Sump Equipment

I am trying to decide what over flow and return pump to buy for my setup. I have a 29g main with a 20g high sump. I was thinking of the CS50 with a 300gph for the overflow and a MAG5 pump (500gph) for the return pump. Does anyone think this would be sufficient water flow for a 29g? The total...

    Sump

I am ready to start setting up the plumbing for the sump I just built. I had a question about getting the water from the Main to the sump. I know a lot of people use overflows but there is always that little unknown in the back of your head of the event of a power failure then a flood. Could a...

    Possible ID??

I know this is not the greatest picture but it was really hard to get even that picture. I found it tonight while looking at my tank. It is a tiny tiny little looking worm that started coming out of a tiny hole in my LR. It is red and when looking at it closer it almost looks like a senipede...

    29g with new stand

So I finally got my new stand built after 3 weeks of failure on all kinds of levels lol. Anyways here it is... The front of the stand comes off to give a large access to the sump I will be putting in. I have a 20g high that is ready to go in, I just need to buy the overflow, plumbing and a...

    Some type of Algae

Its the SunPod. It is 250w 14,000k MH. THat anenome has been in there for about a year and has always done well. Thanks for the tip on the chocolate chip sea star. It has been in there for about 6 months now and has left my sand sifting start and my feather duster alone. Maybe its a nice one :D...

    Some type of Algae

Nope they sure dont. I only have 2 powerheads in there. It only turns my tank about 10 times per house which is the minimum recommended according to my LFS. I will be removing those powerheads and adding 2 Koralia's.

    Some type of Algae

So I have these little rubbery ball looking things attatched to my LR. I was able to get one loose and you are able to pop them(did this outside the tank). Im guessing it is some type of algae. Is there something i can put in there that will eat it, or how do I remove it? I posted a picture of...
