Hi im new here. I have a 45 gallon sump tank, 75 gal. Sump protien skimmer tank, 5 gal.

Welcome to Living Reefs! Sorry for the loss. Could be anything. Hard to say what kills fish after they're dead, and without any pics to show what it looked like. Could have been a parasite or bacterial infection. Could have been stress. Could have been your damsel or clowns -- both very...

Hello everyone! New tank issue @#$!

This is a hydroid. Better get rid of them or the tank could very well be ruined.

Hello everyone! New tank issue @#$!

Wlecome to Living Reefs! That looks like brooklynella to me. The fish would have needed baths with medication, or placed in a qt and dose the water with meds that way. Brooklynella is a rapid killer. Couple days at the most and fish are usually dead. Good info here...

    Setting up the outflow Box

That's perfect for a "bean animal" .... one of the safest ways to drain without destroying your floors. The 2 inch is your emergency overflow pipe. This stays dry unless there is a legit emergency. The 1st one inch line is your main drain. Set it up with plenty of vertical drop and use a...

Hello, I need help identifying this, is it aiptasia or a feather duster or something else?

Looks like a duster. Not sure. Not an aiptasia - they have no solid tube or hard body

    Hello Again

Its going to sit here for a bit. I need to get the stand built and buy some equipment. The tank drained my "fun money" bank account. 72Lx24Wx25H It's a beast! 320 pounds!! It took 4 guys to bring it inside the house.

    Introducing Myself, I suppose?

Hi! Welcome to Living Reefs! I'm sure some others will chime in with suggestions. I'm not the best source for that kind of advice.

Why are anemones classed as hard to keep ?

Looks like Lesley hasn't been here in over a year. She might be still receiving PM's if you want to try and contact her that way. Reefers are usually happy to share pics.

Questions on setting up tank with a used wooden aquarium stand

2yrs old - factory stand..... It's probably fine, but I would want to reinforce it with glue and screws if any part of it looked shady, after you take a closer look at it. Those stands are built with solid pine boards and the top rim sits into a routered edge to transfer all the weight down...

She sure is!! She's saving for a new car. An Infinity QX60. I don't complain. :)

    Spider Web Sack

Clear sponges. A sign of a healthy tank IMO. Nothing to worry about. If they start to over-populate, suck 'em out with a turkey baster. No worries.

    Hello Again

My wife was looking at it and we decided to have a custom stand built. Those factory stands look cheap and they aren't big enough for any storage. My wife said it has to be a nice stand, so I started calling professional carpenters. I'm not a carpenter. I don't have the tools, or the desire...

    Hello Again

Well.... that was quick. Sold the 90g tank.

    New tank everything is green

I thought about my response above. If I seem harsh, it's because seeing another post like this is quite frankly, irritating and saddening. If the OP had done even a LITTLE research, and had any concern for the live animals in the tank, that person would have waited a lot longer than 2 weeks to...

    New tank everything is green

I wouldn't have done it the same way. I'd recommend going a lot slower when introducing livestock to a new tank. On my first reef tank, I think I waited 4 or 5 weeks. The short answer is, your tank is probably still cycling. You may not have enough good aerobic bacteria built up to handle...

    Hello Again

Thank you Becky. My wife said, "Somebody call the sherriff!! You just stole that tank and accessories!"

    Solvent on Bulk Heads?

Is it a PVC bulkhead? PVC pipe? Then, yes I would use solvent on both. It softens and etches the plastic to prepare for glue. Without primer or solvent, you really aren't glueing (fusing) anything together.
