    Lighting a 90

I'm definitely wanting to go the LED route this time around. My last tank (look under Bob's Ghetto build) thrived under t5, but I paid 1600 for the fixture, and a couple hundred in bulbs just to get it up and running! And that was only five years ago, how things have changed.

I've read nothing but great things on the Aquamaxx HOB1. I'm also a fan of anything from octopus for bang for your buck

    Lighting a 90

Hello all! I'm starting up a new 90g tank, standard stuff. Although I have a good background of the hobby and ran several successful tanks, I've been out of the game for a little over 4 years now. The big change in that time has been the explosion in LED lighting for reefs. I definitely want to...

is a foxface a good idea

I had a foxface with a yellow tang for quite awhile and had zero problems, mind you it was in my 180

    Sucked back in!

Thanks guys! Excited to get back in the hobby. Starting a 14g biocube right now, it's the only tank I kept from my former days. Looking really hard at putting together a 120 though, we'll see as time goes on

    Sucked back in!

It's been a long time waiting, I tried to get something started up a few times in the past, but a lot got in the way. Anyways, here I am with some exciting news! I teamed up with a local LFS in the new town I'm in to add a saltwater section to their store! She has a thriving freshwater/brackish...

For anyone who's interested, creep me on FB, Bob Ruff. I have lots of pics of the mine, the wildlife, and Yellowknife in general.

Back in the game! (I hope!)

The first season was going out to the mine I work at. Trust me, its a different world up here, but we love it!

    Stock for my tank

They don't, the issue is the effect on the other fish. The eel will take up alot of tank space and territory, and could add to the stress levels of the other fish

    Stock for my tank

to get back to the original question, I'd get rid of the chromis and the eel

    Stock for my tank

I also feel they are the most laid back. I don't really mean agressiveness, but every one I had seemed to settle to its surroundings easily. I think the big thing is to make sure its the only tang in the tank. I'd also stay away from similarly shaped fish like foxfaces as well

    Stock for my tank

I know the tang police will chase me down (wait, I haven't seen many tang police on this site) but I'd argue a yellow in a 55 is fine. I've had several tanks in that size, and I had a yellow in a 50 for two years with no issues, healthy, fat, no ich, nothing. Having said that, my 50 consisted of...

Back in the game! (I hope!)

yeah, it's up there alright. the temperature has already hit -40 this winter, and I don't think its really been warmer than 0F since late November. Diamond mining has been treating me better than nickel mining, especially since Mel got a job with the other diamond mine up here. Supplies are...
