ya i vote Octopus HOB skimmer thats what im running and love it!

i love how you have the two tanks built into the closet that looks sick

go with 2lbs of live rock to 1 gallion of water in the tank also go with a good skimmer you dont need a canister filter as you will have a skimmer

ya a tang is too small unless you plan on upgrading your tank soon. also how old is your test kit i know if thay are pritty old thay tend to miss read you should take some of your water to your lfs and have them test it to see if its on point

not an expert with the bulbs but 4 compact fluorescent bulbs on a 55 gal dose not sound like too much light to me

sound like you are up to a good start. and that is vary smart getting the right equitment the first time i know alot of us have to rebuy stuff
