the tank is doing really good and still very stable...not having any trouble keeping the bad stuff at 0 and all the good stuff in range...i've had two fatalities recently but fortunately they were some xenia that was in the path of my BTA in its search for a good place to hang out...those things...

thanks! right now a couple of them are in a losing battle with my rose bt...since i moved the lower rock to the center the rose decided to move up front and as expected is showing no courtesy to the few xenia that are in its path..on a good note it is about to split so maybe my little nemo will...

=QUOTE=yote;225922]I personally wouldnt add a tang at all to a 60 gal.Especially a blue regal. Those things aint nothing but ick magnets. To help the coraline along, you'll need test kits for calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium. Keep calcium between 400 and 450. Alkalinity around 10 DKH' and...

    metal halides?

thats what i needed! thankyou! thats where i was confused...just straight ro...i guess my heat issue is taken care of from the ceiling fans in the living room..plenty of air flow...so, should the water during a weekly water change be adjusted other than salinitly before it goes into the tank?

    metal halides?

by pre-balanced i meant properly ph'd and alk adjusted....the rest of your answer is part of my question...i understand salt staying, thus a "spike" in the salinity..so if you use a mh light, the evaporation rate is going to be much higher and the salinity rise increases much more than if t5s...

    metal halides?

thats what i was getting at...if you are evaporating alot of water you would be topping off quite a bit....so a pre balanced resorvoir would be needed to keep salt levels from spiking? with my t5s i only drop about a quarter inch a day..with mh, i would guess it would be close to 2 inches....so...

    metal halides?

thanks for the answers...i would imagine the evaporation rate would definitely increase...does that cause greater risks of stress due to higher salinity swings?

    metal halides?

ok, everyone is talking MH lighting, i've used halides in the past for other reasons and am very interested in how you cool the area....ive always used a cool tube with 500 cfm fan and duct to remove the heat from the area...but when you are dealing with a fish tank you also are trying to make...
