    Cleaning Protein Skimmer?

So, I clean my protein skimmer collection cup every week. But, it gets corraline build up inside it where I can't reach. What is the best way to clean it out? I have heard vinegar, but no idea if I should use straight vinegar or what mixture etc. Any advice on cleaning would be really...

    good crab bad crab?

I would banish it to my refugium if I had one. I don't so I have always taken the bad crabs I found in my tank to my LFS. From there they either get banished to one of the stores refugiums or they get put in a predator tank and become trigger food.

    Paly/Zoa Question

All the bulbs were just replace March/April 2013. However, prior to that they were around the 1 year mark, which I'm pretty sure is too old. I have them very high, on frag racks just below the water line. The flow at the top is fairly low. One of the racks sits over my MP20. None of them...

    Paly/Zoa Question

So every time I get a new paly or zoa, the stems are generally pretty short. The zoas tend to be so short you don't even see them. However, after a while of being in my tank, the stems seem to grow and become kind of long. The question is why? Is it a flow issue? A lighting issue? They...

    Plugs fuggh

I use a pair of tile cutters to trim down frag plugs. If you trim at an angle, you can smooth out the plug a little while getting rid of all the excess. And sometimes while doing that, the coral pops off the plug entirely, which is nice :)

    Added fish - too much?

You can ask around some of the local forums for people who have good and bad, experiences with the LFS's in your area. You can also ask the store yourself. Just ask where they get their fish, ask if the QT their fish. Ask to see their QT area, ask to see their hospital tank etc. The LFS I go...

    Camera Questions

After the comments from Dennis I did a lot of researching and reading reviews about the camera. Not surprisingly, Dennis is right and every review I read agrees with him. Some basically stated that the d7000 was really a model set between enthusiast and professional, at an enthusiast price...

    Camera Questions

Ok, so I am thinking about getting into a DSLR camera for Christmas and am looking for some help please. I've read most of the posts here that I can find and it seems that most people suggest either the Canon line or the Nikon line based on personal preference. And I do plan on going to the...

    question on fragging zoas.

I'm no expert on fragging, but it is my understanding that zoas will release toxins when you cut them and for that reason it is not such a good idea to frag them while in the tank. People usually suggest you where eye protection when fragging them out of the tank for the same reason. I've...

    Scooter Blemmy

I had one in my tank, that would eat frozen food. I verified that he did at my LFS before I brought him home. But, he didn't really swim around the tank at feeding time to get to the frozen food and so the other fish ate almost all of it leaving little for him. So, I started using one of the...
