    Guidance on New Tank Selection

Hello! I would love some guidance selecting a new tank. I had a very small tank about 5 years ago and took it down during a move. I finally have the time and space to get back into the hobby! I would like something fairly large; I was thinking something around 120 gallon or 180 gallon, but...

    Algae Problem

Hi Wade, That rock has a huge mushroom attached to it...think it'll be fine if I put it in some old saltwater and just scrub around it? I'll try to pick up some Phosban this week. Thanks!

    Algae Problem

Don't use tap water (Use RO and make my own, or saltwater), definitely not overfeeding, I do a water change 1x a week and I only have a 14 gallon tank with 1 powerhead. I guess I could try moving the powerhead around, but since the tank is so small, there aren't many places to move it to...

    Algae Problem

So I have this algae growing on one rock in my tank, and I can't really get a picture of it, (I've tried!). I'm not sure what kind it is, but maybe a slime algae as it does feel really slimy and it's definitely not hair or bubble algae. It's a brown/green color, not red at all. It's slowly...

Should I add something to raise my alkalinity?

So I've had my tank up for about 6 months now (14 gallon biocube). When I first started testing my alkalinity it was around 12, however I've watched it slowly drop and for the past, oh 2 months probably it's been sitting at 6. Everything else is fine, my pH is about 8.3, my calcium is at 440...

    Do Nassarius snails fight?

That's true. Good to know, thanks!

    Do Nassarius snails fight?

LoL! I sure hope that's it and he's not trying to kill the others. We shall see...

    Do Nassarius snails fight?

So I had one Nassarius snail in my tank and just added 3 new ones. The 'old' one came out immediately and starting 'attacking' the others. He'll follow them around the tank and it just looks like they're fighting? Is that possible, or is this normal behavior? Thanks!

    Diatoms & Bubbles?

He's huge, his shell is definitely grape sized or larger. So maybe a couple more of those? I was just worried they'd starve or something, but you think they'd all be fine?

    Diatoms & Bubbles?

Thanks Sarah! I also wanted to ask, do you think I need anything to 'sift' my sandbed? It's about 1.5 - 2" deep. I have 1 nassarius snail at the moment. Do I need anything more than that?

    Diatoms & Bubbles?

Okay, so I've had diatom 'flare ups' off and on as my tank is getting settled, but now I have these bubbles forming in my sand bed. My tank is 3 months old and all my water parameters test at 0 (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate). I only use RODI water as well. I read in one of the articles on here that...

    Question about cheato

Opps...What's the best way to take care of it?

    Question about cheato

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about. I probably don't have enough flow going through there, since it's a small tank and it has the stock pump. I'll try to move it around a bit now and hopefully there won't be as much stuff getting stuck in there. Thanks for your help!

    Question about cheato

The cheato hasn't lost any color, but I will try rotating it around a bit when I do my water changes from now on. I was afraid that if I moved it around and the built up gunk got into the water, it would cause my nitrates or something to spike. I don't know though.

    Question about cheato

So about a month ago, I picked up a bag of cheato to add to the back middle chamber of my biocube 14. I took out the bioballs and have a bunch of live rock rubble back there. I just basically put the cheato on top of it. Everything was okay, but during my last water change about a week ago, I...

    High Alkalinity problems?

Hello, I decided to check my water parameters using all the tests I have today. Most things were okay, ammonia, nitrites and nitrates are 0. pH is about 8.2, Salinity is 1.025, temp is 78. However, then I went to test my alkalinity and it's off the charts, seriously. I have the Salifert alk...

    Sick Clownfish =(

Okay, so I left to go to my LFS, had them test the water and everything was okay. The only thing she said was that my pH is a little low (which I know, It's about 7.9/8.0 in the am and about 8.2 in the evening). She says they keep their salinity at about 1.022, and I keep mine at about 1.026...
