    It's up! Something is alive!

The clowns are doing great. They are swimming mostly around a 10" radius from a specific corner of the tank, but will venture out every now and then. I haven't set eyes on the shrimp in over 24 hours. I think my ammonia and nitrate should be fine, because the only thing in my tank prior to...

    ...Do I have to?

Are lights... required? I have my tank (2 clowns, ~130lbs LR, 110 gallon display) in a very sunny room in Georgia, next to a window. Are lights important? If so, what's the least I could get away with?

    It's up! Something is alive!

Short Story: Well, I had a catastrophic tank disaster (110g double-overflow). But, long story short, it is up and running again, with more live rock, and even some creatures. Long story: For anyone who is wondering, don't try to use fiberglass insulation as a filter medium. It comes...

    need a pump recomedation

Thanks guys. cleaning the pump is a good idea, let me try this! I have a cut-off valve from the pump going to the DT, but I don't have one from the sup tank going to the pump. Any quick and easy cheats to block the water flow out of the sup while i disconnect the pump?

    need a pump recomedation

Ok, well the pump that came with my tank (roughly 1300 gph off the top of my head??) is about to give out. it has been getting weaker and weaker. sometimes, it only runs for 10 second intervals. So, i figured it was about time to get a new pump. Now, a few days ago some people on here...

Thanks for the reply. My piping is as such, The tank has two over-flows in the back. the water free-falls down to the bottom, and about 7" of 1.5" flex tubing until it reaches my sump/filter tank. Once in the filter tank, it goes into a 1" PVC figure-8 that runs around the top of the tank...

    sorry to keep you waiting...

How much do I lose? I thought someone here told me 10 times my gallons (110 x 10 = 1,100). I figure even if I am losing some pressure, 1,400 should still be well inside a safe zone. Explain?

    sorry to keep you waiting...

I did some aqua-scaping, and got my sump running. I am using the over-flows from the back of the tank going down to some sprinklers that are dripping the water over some fiber-glass sheets where my bacteria will build. I think my LFS guy called it a wet/dry. I will be upgrading to some...
