    Bacterial Bloom

K so my tank has been up for a about a month and a half now. Everything is going great but I am experiencing a milky cloudyness to the water now for the past week. I took out about 1-2 lbs of live rock in my 20g to make a mod for my algae tumbler and I think this resulted in a bacterial bloom...

    Ocean's 20g Nano

K so my tank is doing good. However for about a week now its been kinda cloudy and milky. the skimmer also isn't working so this leads me to think that this could be a bacterial bloom that has resulted since I moved the 1-2 lbs of live rock. Problem is water changes can't resolve this because...

Aside from my chaeto problem however my tank is doing great. I created a DIY stand for the skimmer because it was sitting to low in the water and now it is working like a beast. I have had some new additions which include a fire shrimp, glaxy coral frag, and a marble star. I know stars are...

Okay so I know I am winning the green film algae on glass battle. It is now only coming in on the middle of the front glass where the light is highest. I'm fine with algae in my tank I was just tired of having to clean the glass 1-2 times a day. I have the chaeto in my fuge but I noticed that it...

    Ocean's 20g Nano

Alright so I have been battling the green film algae which I am attributing to my tank being newer. But i think I am making progress because the growth on the glass has noticeably slowed down over the last week. I have just been doing water changes every other day and I am now running Chaeto! I...

    Little Fish's 46

Little fish where do you get all your coral selections. I love how many different kinds u have and the variety you got going on. I live in the springs so a drive to denver would be well worth my time to get some quality corals. Down here we have barely any to choose from and they are usually all...

Cadlights 50g Artisan c/w Starfire glass

Great looking setup! Clean and simple. I am running basically the exact same sump setups, large skimmer, into fuge into return on my 20g and my water quality has been great so far with regular water changes. I think your off to a great start to a quality tank.

Well my clowns are hangin out very close to the torch coral now. Is that a type that they may end up hosing? It seems like that type of coral. And the algae bloom is still going on which is kinda frustrating me. I know its part of the tank cycle I just hate yellow/green tint it gives to the...

Lol. Yes the torch closed up again overnight but I think its sill just being fussy since coming into a new home. I have also noticed a couple hermit crabs that I thought were dead but I have since noticed no empty shells in the tank and I can still find more alive than there should be if they...

    Ocean's 20g Nano

Yep I actually first thought that one of my clumsy crabs probably fell on it. I also noticed that it was releasing a brown string from both of its mouths. I did a little more research on the internet and several other people had been asking the same question. Apparently it is simply going...

    K. I guess my concern is if its normal for torch corals to occasionally retract. Or do they only retract if something is wrong?

    Ocean's 20g Nano

K so today I picked up a blood cleaner shrimp who is currently at a cave at the back and I am unable to get a pic atm. I think he is doing fine tho from what I can see of him. I also picked up this torch coral frag. When I put it into the tank it slowly opened back up and extended itself even...

I'm A Beginner Saltwater Inthusiast, would this be a good stock?

I agree that may be a bit to many fish. I have always stayed away from damsels now because of their attitude. But i think you would be fine with that amount of fish if added slowly over time and it depends on your tank setup. If your running a decent sump with a good nutrient exporter like a...

Tank is looking good, getting back to crystal clear again. Thinking I need something for cleaning/shuffling the sand around. Any ideas?

    Ocean's 20g Nano

The cloudiness is starting to go away slowly i think. All the other hermits and the snail look good now and appear to be just fine. They are all actively eating and moving. I think that the cloudiness may have came from adding the bottle of copepods.
