As a get more and more into this hobby, I can't help but think about the impact on the enviornment. When you think about all the shipping and stress the wild caught fish have to endure, tank raised has to be a better way to go. Do you have a resource?

Some folks seem concerned about the ballasts. Especially when you put some "real" bulbs in the fixture. Anyone have experience/imput?

Re: Gurgling noise in overflow box (the air intake hole of pipe # 2) -diagram include A bigger hole should help. I had a similar problem with the plumbing in my return box, and a bigger whole solved the problem. Good luck.

Right. The balasts are built into the fixture. So, I need to start from scratch. It looks like Im better off price wise to buy a fixture instead of building one.

Mine don't. They are not "aquarium" fixtures. Can you purchase a "sheet" of reflective material to retro fit them?

Any good resource for reflectors? I've only seen them when you buy a kit.

I built my existing hood. I would need quality reflectors. Are workhorse balasts a brand, or just saying get some heavy duty ones?

Don't know if I'll be saving anything though, by the time I buy the legs, bulbs and splash covers. What BL1 recommended included all these. So, which fixture is best? By the way, do we buy/sell/trade on this forum?
