My hex tank adventure into the saltwater.

So here is a photo update of whats been going on over the last month since my last post. I switched out my two koralia 550s for two koralia 240s (big difference in size) and added a fluval rotating deflector to my return which give the tank a much more random current. My corals a much happier...

    marinland reef led lighting progress

I just got a freebie candycane frag last night. Still getting it used to the lights and going to be moving a couple corals around tomorrow. I will try to post some pics up in the next couple days. Question I have for you all with the Marineland Reef LEDs, because they run on a three way switch...

My hex tank adventure into the saltwater.

Heres the new NanoGlo Led refugium on last night. I like that light ALOT. Reg $69.00 at LFS price, Black Friday priced it for 44.99. I know its a lot more than a home depot flood light but this takes up no room at all and the power consumption will pay for itself in the long run. Not a fan of...

My hex tank adventure into the saltwater.

So the interwebs is finally letting me upload pics again. Heres the pairs of percs I got. Snowball on the left and bottom, Lily on the right and top. My torch is doing well. I was told this is an aggressive coral and should keep it away from the others so it doesnt sting them. I love the...

My hex tank adventure into the saltwater.

So if I leave the loner percula, I think I am going call himSnowball, in the tank for a couple weeks or months and he makes out fine, would adding another pair of perculas later be a good or bad idea? And I will leave the rocks alone. As much as I want to find that little guy I will accept it...

My hex tank adventure into the saltwater.

I did try opposite sides of the tank but the problem there is that my light goes across the center and the powerheads end up blocking light from spreading out to the bottom on both sides so I have to keep them as far back as possible. I tried both on the back criss-crossing in the middle but the...

My hex tank adventure into the saltwater.

I have been running just one of my 550s for5 hours and my hammer, torch, and zoas look almost twice as big. Maybe I will do two 260s. It doesnt seem like a lot of flow but I think due to the "roundness" of the hex tank two 425s may be too much. Right now my 550s are on craigslist. NanoReefer I...

My hex tank adventure into the saltwater.

I think I am going to downsize to the 425s in place of the 550 koralias I got. It will give my tank some more room, and I think I have too much flow right now. Still battling the toilet bowl swirl effect along the bottom. I will give it a couple more days yet though.

My hex tank adventure into the saltwater.

Here are some tank shots from each "front" panel of my hex tank. Any suggestions on where to place those Mushrooms. I have researched a lot on them but can not find a difinative answer as to what would be their liking. High or low flow, high or low lighting. I currently moved it up top...

frag swap was pretty awesome. Not as good of prices as I thought there was going to be. I did pick up a couple goodies. A torch which is going bottom center for awhile and a....cant remember. oh yeah. When I was moving rock around and stacking the new rock that shy little brittle star finally cam out to say "Hi." My hex tank adventure into the saltwater.

Lots of small bills...got it. Zoas should be alright for my leds right? and as far as mushrooms I have no idea. I am trying to get as much color in my tank as possible with the leds.. My hammer is still kind of stalled out after the addition of the koralias. I am trying to find a lower flow...
