Hey-ohhh. Easy buddy, I appreciate the help! I really do. Knowledge is the key to success, passion just rocks the boat. I'm more interested in knowledge for now, thanks. I see there is a lot of debates out there regarding the infamous bioballs and my jury is still out. They do help...

So far I have 30lbs of live rock. I'm getting about 30-40lbs more this week. As far as the lights, I'll do a trial run on a small piece of coral nearest the top of the water column like you suggested chute. Thanks! Regarding bioballs, what I'm having trouble understanding is why a...

Thanks for all your help so far. I apologize for posting this in the wrong sub-forum. I just realized there is a section "New to Reefing." That is definitely where I belong. If a mod could move this to that section, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again for not berating me, I'll go to the kiddie...

I looked. It has individual reflectors for each bulb. The fixture looks like it lights up the tank the same as the LFS's coral tanks. It is bright. Anyway, I'm just going to do softies. I have had a krill shrimp in the tank to promote the cycle for two days and it is surrounded with white...

I'm not sure what you mean by tall 125. I have a 90 gallon bowfront :dunno: I didn't mention but should have, I will only consider doing softies. You are a stickler for details and I like it

Oh yeah, good question, it is the 48 incher which does run the entire length of the tank.

It is the Coralife T5 High Output Lunar fixture. I believe if it got any brighter in the tank, I'd have to notify air traffic control and apologize to my neighbors.

The tank is clear and the new substrate is settled. I have a krill resting at the bottom to kickstart the cycle. I bought a coralife 2X10k/2Xatinic and moonlight led fixture. Hopefully, I'll be ready for fish in a week or two... I'd appreciate livestock suggestions. Oh yeah, and I'm...

Well, I removed most of the old substrate by siphon and a 30% water change. I used some clear tube and a 5g bucket. The hose did not want to cooperate. It was a mess and I'm glad I got it cleaned up before the wife gets home. Then I rinsed the new substrate (aragonite) for 5 minutes or so...

Ha! You got that right! But, usually that's proceeded with "smart." Anywho, I'll keep you all updated... good and bad. Wait, this is a hobby so it's all good.

Thanks for the replies! I could probably figure out how to make an LED light fixture but I don't wanna. I'll buy a used fixture with some T5's and LED moonlights. I am going to take everyone's advice an get rid of most of the PFS and chunky aragonite. I am going to use my bioball setup...

Thanks for the reply. The crushed coral is actually aragonite (Nature's Ocean Aragonite Sand at PETCO) I was confused but I'm back now. However, it is chunky aragonite. Should I find some finer aragonite? The bioballs are pre-filtered with a filter pad. I may have to change the filter pad...

First timer here to marine. I've read a lot of posts so far and probably need to read more. However, I thought I'd start my own thread and get my questions answered directly. I have a 90 gallon bowfront used tank. I rebuilt the stand using real wood instead of the crappy MDF that it came...

Thanks for all the welcomes. I am learning a lot so far searching the site. I still have some questions that I will post soon to get the board's opinions. My freshwater experience is definitely a different ball game but the results will hopefully be the same. Thanks again!

    90 Marine

Hello all, I'm new to marine but not keeping fish. I've been into fresh/rift lake aquatics for years. My last aquarium was a 210 Tanganyikan fish only with a Moba Frontosa colony. Anyway, I plan on finding out all kinds of good info from you guys. I like to have a sense of humor about...
