    White Fang-Tooth Blenny

My LFS has a White fang-tooth blenny (Meiacanthus smithi, a.k.a. Smith's Blenny, Disco Blenny, White Fang Blenny, etc...). Can anyone give me more info? From what I can find, it's a peaceful fish that gets upwards of 3" and will get along with others but hold its own if it needs. I have a YCG...

    Prognathodes aculeatus

Anybody had any experience with these guys? I've done my research and they average 3 inches but max at 4 and are tough to get on frozen, but I'm prepared for the challenge. There's a couple threads about them and it seems they do well in reef settings, but my question is if one would do well in...

    External Skimmers

So here's the plan: since I don't have a sump, I'd like to get an external skimmer rated for at least 40 gallons. I also would like to do some surface skimming, so is it possible to put an overflow style box in the back and have an external skimmer draw from that? And the big question is what...

    Baffle Height

I wanna get this glass cut before I leave work today so I'm wondering what height I should use. Bottom to the rim is 15 1/2" so I was thinking baffles after the skimmer at 12", middle 2" off the bottom. After that, I'm doing a small fuge, mainly for chaeto and a little rock, and was thinking of...

    Sweeper Tentacles

I'm sure I've read it somewhere, but if my LPS aren't extending tentacles, does that pretty much mean that it's getting enough light to facilitate enough zooxanthelae? Basically that it's sustaining itself that way and doesn't need to filter feed?

    Lamarck Angel

I have a dilemma. A Petco in town has had a Lamarck angel for about a year and a half. I know the manager very well and I trust her, and on top of that there's a new store in town with a very knowledgeable owner. Both of them say that they think its a dwarf and should stay 5-6", but liveaquaria...

    Salt Mixes

Mod - I hope this is an okay spot for this. Everybody else - I'm about ready to buy my first BUCKET of salt mix. Upgrading from little bags. :) I've been using Reef Crystals and I like it a lot. Before we moved and I had corals, it worked well for me. I was thinking either more Reef Crystals...

    Checkers and Monitors

Can anybody recommend the best checkers and monitors? I already have digital temp, but I'm looking for pH, NH3, NO2, NO3, PO4, Ca, Mg, dKh and a good refractometer. But I can't afford to just drop $100+ each. And I would say that a refractometer, Ca, dKh and pH are the most important right now.

    Gfo

I want to do my tank right this time so I have a couple questions. First, since I just ordered a few types of macro algae (Red Gracilera, Ulva and a surprise), do I need to be running a reactor? My hopes were that using a natural nutrient export would mean no. Second, if I do need one, can...

    DIY Protein Skimmer

Here's the deal. I'm not spending $150 on a skimmer for my tank, so I need help making one. My options are the airstone type or a venturi, but my dilemma is making one. I understand how the old fashion ones work, but I think the venturii (?) are the preferred method and the problem is that I...

    Heat watts and flow

I know there's no basic answer, but I'm in the market for a heater for my 20 gallon. Ambient temp is 68-71° depending on the day. What are some opinions on how many watts? I do plan on keeping a 50w in there just in case... Second is flow. I'm going with a Koralia 240 Nano, just wondering if...
