    Having crystal clearer water, possible????

+1 for the upgraded skimmer. I ran both carbon and gfo for a long time and still had particles floating around. Upgraded my skimmer to one capable of twice my tank volume and bang!! Clean and clear wawa.

    blue streak cleaner wrasse

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they're going to live for a very long time, I've had them for a few months now, and I made the mistake of not researching them before I bought them or believe me, I wouldn't have bought them.

    blue streak cleaner wrasse

Thanks for the advice, however mine feast daily on the frozen concoction I put in the tank. The cleaner wrasse also eats the slime coating on the fish, and seeing as how I do have 10 rather large fish in there with them I think I should be ok. My cleaners are actually pretty fat as are the rest...

    blue streak cleaner wrasse

Hey everyone, a few months back I picked up 2(yes 2 lol) blue streak cleaner wrasse. I know you're only supposed to have 1/tank, however I figured that with the # of fish I have and being a 8' long tank that they could live in the same tank. For the first week or two the bigger one chased the...

    phosban or brs reactor

I'd say neither one. Go to home depot and pick up their "watts whole home" system. Looks just like a BRS reactor only it is a fraction of the price. I picked one up for $50, pop your GFO in that and voila! Bye bye hair algae. Or get a sea hare, but be prepared to take him out once the hair algae...

    Introduce yourself with pics.

Thanks Fishy. I love all the tangs!! I'm a fiend for tangs. I used to have an orange shoulder tang a few years back. Loved it! Grew fast and was super docile. Always out front constantly swimming the length of the tank.

    If I Had The Money........

No worries, I just threw it out there. To be honest, I didn't even pay attention to your tank stats, I just read your reply and tossed that out there. Lol

4"-5" Fowleri tang for sale Ontario, Canada

Hey guys and gals, I picked up a fellow reefers fish as he was shutting down his tank. I would love to keep this one, however I already have a Fowleri tang so I have decided to sell this one. Shoot me some offers if anyone is in my neck of the woods. Thanks for looking and I'll post a pic when I...

i think i have new tank syndrome

Welcome. I agree with the others. Let your tank prepare itself before you start tossing fish into it. I really don't think its worth killing fish to get you tank to cycle faster. Let nature(or man made nature) take its course. Give it a few weeks at least. Also DO get yourself a test kit and...

    If I Had The Money........

I have a Fowleri tang for sale if you're ever in Ontario, Canada. I actually have 3 right now. Have one in my 300g and I just picked up 2 off a local reefer shutting down his tank. Sold one to a friend @ work and have 1 left I'm looking to sell.

    If I Had The Money........

I love the Gem tang..........and the long nose black tang but the Gem is a mile out of my price range and even the $600 price tag I've saw a black tang go for here in Canada is a bit too steep for me. I agree with the others that its hard to swallow such a huge cost for something you may not...

    Stocking a 180 gallon

The absolute most aggressive fish in my tank is my blue eyed bristletooth tang. When I added my pale lipped and my fowleri it constantly chased/attacked them for almost a week. Now its been about 4 months and they all swim around together. I have at least 4 tangs of the Acantharus genus with no...

    Stocking a 180 gallon

Chevron tang would be a great addition. I have one in my 300g. Gets along great with all my other fish(I have 10 tangs) and its probably the best algae muncher in my tank. Cleans the glass(acrylic in my case) constantly and has a huge mouth. Lol. Only thing with the Chevron is that it is a bit...

    Introduce yourself with pics.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. The yellowfin will end up being the largest fish I have. Yellowfins are the largest tangs of the Acantharus genus getting upwards of 2.5' in the wild. I've heard of them getting up to 18" in the home aquarium. I think my favorites right now are the Maculiceps...

    Introduce yourself with pics.

I do love my tangs. They are by far some of the nicest fish. I do have plans for an even larger tank, but not until I sell my current house. I have slowly been adding to my tang collection. I think I've just about hit my limit now though.

    Introduce yourself with pics.

I think its got a lot to do with how much they eat. As I said, they are all very very fat. They get along great. I toss a rather large chunk of a frozen concoction I bought off a fellow reefer into the tank and they all swarm it until its gone. I also feed a mitt full of new life spectrum...
