tank up and running a little over 2 months

Thanks, I'll go out this weekend and get frozen food. Have a med yellow tang, 1 rusty angel, 2 clownfish besides the 2 corals and a feather duster. Was looking at the online recipes on making our own frozen food as well. Any other suggestions to get the nitrates down and get rid of the algae...

tank up and running a little over 2 months

Feeding once a day, some thawed shrimp, mix of pellets and flakes. Run blue lights from 7:30 to 8:30 in the morning, then day lights from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm and actinic blue lights for a hour 7:30 to 8:30. Should I reduce the time. Using RO/DI water. We have a sump with live rock in the...

tank up and running a little over 2 months

Having algae outbreak that I can't seem to get rid of. I have done at least 3 water changes with 20 to 25 gallon. This is a 75 gallon. Ammonia and nitrites are at 0. Everything measures good but nitrates holding at 20. Long tentacles plate coral and bubble coral are thriving, 4 fish are doing...

    900 gph submersible pump

Has anyone heard of aqua marine brands on the pumps? What has them with 2 yr warranties. Don't have extra money to replace my current pump that doesn't match my overflow box. Wanted to see before I purchase.

    cycling new tank

ammonia levels are still spiked, nitrates are up too so I hope it starts to drop soon. Seems ammonia is way up. Is it normal for it to spike this high. Do I need to do anything or let it continue until the levels drop?

At this point I think the ammonia spike killed them all. Will take a miracle to bring them out of it.

    cycling new tank

Have a question regarding the cycle. Our ammonia levels spiked yesterday and the water is cloudy. My concern is the Kenya trees and hammer coral that came with the live rock we bought from a guy on Craigslist. They have been thriving and have even multipled since we got them but last night all...

We started up our 75 gallon and have a question. Am I suppose to run my protein skimmer at the beginning? I read on one of the forums that yes to run it but now I see on some others that ask about the smell when putting the shrimp in to start the cycle and that person was told that he shouldn't...

started up our 75 gallon last night

Ok, our tank is up and running and starting our cycle. Have a few questions. We bought a new cs100 overflow with aqua lifter pump and the water flow doesn't seem as strong as the video shows. Do we need to bump up our submersible pump? The pump was given to us with the tank, sump as a...

starting up a 75 gallon saltwater

Hoping to start our 75 gallon saltwater tank within the week. Going shopping to switch out my crushed coral with sand after seeing all the post that crushed coral wasn't a good substrate. Any suggestion on type of sand and size? I don't want a deep bed, probably an inch or 2, how much do you...
