They make ones that can sit internally in the tank. And are relatively small. A lot of my local reefers use them, and have great success with them. And yeah, you should never dose anything without being able to test for it :p

Bumping your Magnesium slowly up to about 1800ish will do the trick. Once you hit the magic death point, you'll literally be able to see the hair algae start to turn this ugly white color. Just be careful with dosing mag. Take your time, and make sure you have a test kit for it! Or, you can try...

Can you hatch live brine shrimp? If so, do pipefish!! They are awesome! :)

For the hair algae, get a sea hare. It will CLEAN your tank of any nuisance algae in next to no time at all. I'd recommend getting one thats still relatively small. Otherwise, you'll have to supplement it's feeding with algae sheets

Diatoms are completely normal for a new tank. One all the silicates are eating up, the diatoms will go away on their own. 1/2 a gallon sounds pretty normal. If you want to make things even easier for your wife, you can check out some ATOs. This way, all she has to do is fill the reservoir every...

If you do decide to put rubble down there, I'd put in a small pump to keep the water moving. I did that in a 14g Biocube I have. Keeps everything from settling. I only have the pump running at about 35-40gph, but in the small chamber, that goes a looooonnnngg way. Glad to see this coming...

    Lots of questions.

These gobies are one of the few I've had luck keeping in groups. Just provide ample rock for them to perch in/on/around to get away from each other if they start feeling frisky. Most other gobies though, I don't recommend trying this with. And, I would also recommend introducing ALL of them at...

An Algae Scrubber doesn't have to be in a 10g tank lol. Search videos on youtube on DIY algae scrubbers if you have limited space.

    tank set up?

I would not do Seahorses unless they are captive raised. Not unless you have the determination to hatch brine shrimp daily. Also, if you intend on doing a Mandarin, I would recommend WAITING on getting one until you can locate one that eats prepared foods (Frozen, Pellets, etc.). This will...

I'd watch out with that window near the tank. Natural sunlight can cause a TON of algae issues on the side that is exposed too the light. Other then that, sexy little tank :)
