Then "Drill away" it is. I'll have to do some research on what size bulkheads and PVC to use. There's plenty of U tube vids on drilling glass. I'm also wondering, how many holes to drill ??? 2 or 4. or possibly 3. Drains and returns.

Kyle, I took two pics of the tank and put them in an album here on Livingreefs entitled "Is my glass tank tempered or not?" I do not know how to link the album to a message/post.

I'm looking on CL twice a day, but feeling like I want to put together my own... just to see if it can be done. (You know how headstrong girls can be...) I have a 72" tank that is 19" across. I'm thinking that 4 dual T5HO's 36" fixtures with 4 Giesemann Aqua Blue Plus and 4 Actinic bulbs will...

I'm thinking that the biggest problem will revolve around how to keep the Salt water out of the fixture.

Well, Home D has a T5 HO dual 48" fixture for $35. Y not put a 6500k And an actinic in that rather than spend $200 on something at the local fish store ?

I would like to know if a 6,500k t5 bulb can use the same ballast as a 10,0000k or actinic bulb.

Kbuser92, I'm not calling you out or anything.... Just want to know how I can be sure the backsides are NOT tempered. Is this how all glass tanks are? There is a sticker on the bottom of the tank that says it was manufactured in March 1995. If possible, I would much rather have a drilled...

Ted, Mario, Moncapitaine, Smitty, On_on3 You guys are great. You all have given me plenty to think about  I'm on a budget and will try to find used equipment in many areas like rocks and sand. Other things I know will be better if I purchase new. I'm in the Dallas/Ft Worth area...

Thanks for your replies, And Ted, thank you for the advise. My tank is not drilled, and I'm afraid the glass may be tempered. My Uncle said NOT to attempt drilling it. I like the idea of a refugium/sump (took me a while to figure out what you meant by hob) so I will have to find an HOB...

Hello all, I am new to this site and new to salt water aquariums. I have a 125gal glass aquarium sitting in the garage. I would like to bring it in the house and set it up as a "reef" tank. I have minimal experience with fresh water, and I understand chemistry. What I'm struggling with...
