    Very nice picture indeed....

    Drilling tank.

You probably could do that but an external sump and fuge would make a much healthier system long term....

    My man cave

Not a concern my friend, except the precautions that salt_for_brains brought up.

MitchReef's Reef...well the current one at least....

I like the lights but plan on taking out quite a few of the whites and replacing with royal blues. I am barely running my whites channel and am about as blue as I want to be, but I would love to be able to crank down on the blue channel some. I have not been good about chemistry at all and have...

MitchReef's Reef...well the current one at least....

That shouldn't be a problem.....That is the only coral I have that survived the couple of really bad years I had before starting this tank. I lost all but one fish and oh, so many beautiful corals....

    Drilling tank.

Every 55G that I have ever seen was tempered on all panels. I had someone insist that it wasn't so he drilled and it popped....he figured why not, so he drilled every panel and each and every one did the tempered glass pop!

That makes great tank topper but please be aware that many (actually most) jumpers can go through that. Wrasses should have 1/4" mesh.

I always used the cheap camping water jugs from Wally Mart....they had aqua blue 6 gallon jugs with fair pouring spouts that work real well and were not real expensive....

I don't know what you did about your cerith snails but I would consider cutting back by a few and would try to keep a good mixture of snail varieties like you have because they all prefer some nastiness for dinner opposed to other nastiness and you want all varieties of left over food, detritus...

Hermit crabs belong in your refugium! I don't allow any of the idiot murderous bastards in my display..... I must feel pretty strongly about them huh!

MitchReef's Reef...well the current one at least....

Well, as is often the case the real world reared its ugly head and I didn't get the tank done today. I have all the plumbing parts that I need and the return line is already all cut and mocked up to glue. I have all the overflow piping cut but am short by one elbow. I will pick that up while out...

MitchReef's Reef...well the current one at least....

I guess I have been away too long, but now I'm back. Much has progressed with the system in the past month or so. The most outstanding change is that my daughter and I went to the WWC Black Friday Sale and she won a pair of Sustainable Aquatics Snowflake Clowns. Since I already have the Naked...
