72 gallon bowfront

hi everyone, so i just bought a used aquarium, 72 gallon bowfront. it has no glass on top so i was wondering if anyone has pictures of how the glass is and how the filter would be placed in the water. if i get replacement glass do i get it big enough so that i leave like a 6 inch gap so the filter can be placed in the water? did i just answer my own question?? maybe someone can show me a picture of the top of theirs..
 
Hi, in saltwater you shouldn't use a glass top. It traps in heat, inhibits gas exchange and gets covered in salt creep so it ends up blocking the light. Many people like to have a lid of some sort to keep fish from jumping out, and they make their own out of mesh to prevent these problems. Like this:

oh boy i just realized that i goofed up big time.. i am going to do a freshwater aquarium and i just may be in the wrong place to ask questions..
