algae under sand

I have algae growing under the sand bed, I can see it through the glass. How do I get ride of it, or what do I do about it?

I'd say some sort of sand sifter such as Nassarius snails maybe? I have about 15-20 in my tank they seem to take care of that sort of thing. and they can reproduce like rabbits :D
