Algae?

I've had this in my tank awhile. The first one just showed up one day, it's solid black(hard to tell in the pic). Literally from one day to the next it just sorta appeared. It's firm to the touch and it's been there awhile. The other stuff was on a piece of coral. It's just popped up in small patches across the tank. It's very thick stuff, hard to pull off, it's also very red.

It looks like somethings eating the black spike. The red algae I really need to start scrubbing or doing something to. Otherwise I'm afraid it's going to keep spreading. Anyone got an ID? I can try for clearer pics if it'd help.
