Almost bought a 140.....

I was all set to make the trip to pick it up, but then I looked at the measurements......48X24X29. I thought about trying to get the bottom of that tank lit and chickened out. And it was only 200 bucks. My question, how do people transport these large tanks? Are they fine in the back of a truck? How thick is the glass on a tank this big?

They are fine in the back of a truck. They will not slide unless you are driving like a jackass. They are way to heavy to bounce unless you drive like Lee Majors.

I love the really large but tall tanks like the 140. Yes, long has other advantages but tall looks really cool. especially since you have better options for rock stacking...I would go for it.

I sure you can keep a tang or two in there since you'll have plenty of open water.

I wouldn't pass that up for $200 ... like everyone was saying just strap it down, maybe toss some blankets under and over it and drive carefully. You should be fine!

Yep,Fold some quilts up under the tank and rope it off so it wont slide.
At that price I'd buy a mattress to set it on for the trip.
If I'm remembering right, the glass should be about a 1/4" thick if not 1/2".
