Any risk in fragging torch?

I have a torch coral that had about 4 heads when I got it. It is not up to 10 heads and I was thinking about fragging a couple of them. Is there any risk to the rest of the polyps by fragging them? I've never fragged LPS and I'd hate to hurt the whole thing.

It will be fine to frag it. Just cut the hard skeleton part and there will be no damage to the coral :)


Easiest way to frag will be to cut the skeleton with a dremmel

It's easy to "accidentally" frag them too -- break off the branches at the base, making sure you are not getting close to the flesh.

What if you have a hammer that has mutiple heads but only one base. Do you just cut right into the flesh with a dremmel. Mine comes from one stalk and then the heads split into about five.

If you wait for it to grow a bit more, they will each have their own stalk. I wouldn't frag it yet if I were you.
