Anyone have or ever had a Mandarin or Dragonet fish????

I have nothing to add on the manderine. The powder blue tang is a bad idea, they are very finnicy fish and can easly get ick like your lfs said, also since there finnicy they swim fast alot of time darting around so you would need a larger tank for them to be happy, like 125 gal or bigger. They get about 9" in tank and need atleast a 6 foot tank to be happy, if there not happy they can easly get ick. Here is a link that give a little info.Melevsreef.com - Powder Blue Tang

Reeffreak, Well.... i have 140 Lbs of live rock in my 90 gallon.... So for the live rock, i suppose I have enogh.. but like you and biff said, if they need a "well established" tank, This might not be my case yet.... Ive had my tank running for about 2 months now... My clowns, tang and star are doing great.... but still, i's rather wait... i think they were selling the dragonet for $65.00 each.... So i rather wait until my tank is properly established.... Reeffreak, do you have any corals? Does he pick on your corals at all?

Anyhow, this is certainly a fish i might consider adding later on.... So cute!!
They are completely reef safe.Your tank is certainly large enough, just give it a little more time.

And do not pay 65.00 clams for a Madarin Dragonets unless they are some mated pair.

Thank a lot to you all for the info!! Bobby, I think i will listen to you this time.. Like i said, i will most probably be moving out of this home next year, and I definetely want to upgrade to a bigger tank. We'll see then about the powder blue.... I m happy with my yellow tang.... He is just so pretty....

Reeffreak, the mandarin dragonet sells for $65.00 EACH at Big al's. This is my local lfs. Everything is so overprices, but I havent yet found another reliable place.... I know beside the big Al's, there is a china town place with an aquarium store.... But the tanks looks pretty dirty, and i m not sure i really trust their livestock..... Even tho it is way cheaper, i woudn t want to try and save some money, and they bring a parasite in my tank, and wipe out everything that I have (my yellow tang, my 2 clowns and my star)... that would suck!!!

yea biff there 15.00 to 20.00 here, but I think everything is double in Canada. You could use a quorantine tank to make sure there safe.

Bobby, Yes, i am in canada... Right beside Toronto. people here are loaded up the (bleep) and everything is so overpriced!!!!!!! talking about an oil change, restaurants, food, cost of life down here is incredibly expensive!! My lighting system that i bought for $630.00 with shipping inclided (outer orbit light).... They were selling the EXACT SAME ONE at my LFS for $1200.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean, my LFS is exorbiting!!!!! I see a bunch of snails and livestock on the internet for so cheap!!!!!!! And noone will ship livestock to canada due to the Customs!!! My turbo snails, i payed 3 for $10.00 !!!!!!!!!! What a rip off!!!!! But this is the big city where everyone is loaded up the (bleep)!! Excuse my language!

Reeffreak, i m 1 hour away from Buffalo or niagara falls. I always go to niagara with friends on the week end to go to the casino (but we stay on the Canadian side). I mean, i am litterally 1 hour away from the us customs, but i heard that if you get caught importing fish, youre in deep trouble...... I think youre suppose to fill out paper work, and have the fish examined, and then the customs end up raping yoU!!!!! lol....... I could always try and sneak some fish... but then again... Don t really wanna get in trouble...

My husband's family is from Canada and they live in Calgary. When we were there in the summer they had to shut down the McDonalds because they were offering $18 an hour to cashiers and nobody would work for that. So in Calgary, yes, the jobs pay about three times as much as in the US! I don't know about where Sxy lives though.

Wow i would be cashier for 18.00 a hour here. Cost of living is cheap here a brand new 1500 sf house on one acre is 117,000.00. A hamburger is like .89

Bobby, Yes. toronto is a big city. It is full of work, and if youre smart, you can definetely make some money. Lots of jobs are big money down here... As an example, my friend started working at customer service for an insurance company. They signed her contract starting at $36000.00 per year, plus she s got amazing benefits (dental plans where they pay 90%)...

But again, renting a house here is anywhere between $1600.00-$2500.00 PER MONTH. if you want to buy a house.. Something half decent (3 bedroom, 3 washrooms) and you won t find any smaller here, then youre lookinh anywhere between 390 000.00- 500 000.00
