Aquarium question

Hello,
I was curious, do marine fish in general like a tall aquarium or a standard/long aquarium? Also, most books tell me to get the largest aquarium in my price range, but still, should I get (is it recommended) a 55 gallon aquarium, standard size?

Long aquarium. Fish in general are more about length than height.

(also if you're thinking about a 55, I suggest a 75. It's the same length but wider (18" instead of 12") so it's easier to aquascape and you can put a bigger variety of fish in it.)

+1 I agree with Erin, long tanks are better. And yes in 3 months you will kick yourself for not going as big as possible.

Or one step further would be a 90. That's a tall 75. :)
Or be like me. Wait to buy a house and in the mean time, save for an 8' tank. 240 gallons, baby. Yayuh.

+1 to all the above i bought a 55 gal for my first tank and now i want a bigger tank i say go as big as you as the bigger tank you get the variety of fish as erin had said
