Best showcase contest - you could win $50!

Reefing newb
We are running a competition at Living Reefs to promote the new showcase section, and the winner will get a $50 PayPal prize to spend on their tank (or whatever else considering it’s Christmas around the corner!).

It’s really simple to enter – just create a showcase entry for your aquarium! That’s it. Simply click on the 'Showcase' tab on the menu bar and then 'Create item' to start your showcase. Some of you already have a showcase thread, in which case just PM me or Ian and we can link it to your new showcase entry once it has been created.

The winner will be judged based on the best showcase entry, in terms of photos uploaded, layout, description and completeness. It’s not a case of having the best tank, but providing the best showcase entry for it.

Competition Rules:
  • The competition is open to all Living Reefs members, other than Administrators and Sponsors. All members, VIP members and moderators are eligible.
  • The closing date is 15th December and the winner will be picked as soon as possible after that date.
  • If you have multiple aquariums, then multiple showcase entries can be created.
  • The winner will be picked by the administrators of this site, based on the best overall showcase. In the case of a tie between entries, a random number generator will be used to select the winner.
  • Any existing entries in the showcase section are already eligible.
  • If you’ve just got a discussion thread without a showcase entry, then you’ll need to create one to enter.

If you have any queries about setting up your showcase please do not hesitate to ask. Good luck!

I just wanted to post a quick update, as when you are posting a new showcase entries there are some tabs above the editor - this is where you can add details for different sections (such as overview, technical specs and stock). It could be easily missed, so thought I should post about it :).

Yep, every showcase is entered :). They're judged on how well they are set up "in terms of photos uploaded, layout, description and completeness", so having a nice overview page that describes the tank well is a really good way to make sure that it attracts attention.

There are around 25 entries so far, so there are still hundreds of tanks without a showcase entry on the site - so be sure to get in quick :). 4 days left before we pick a winner :D.

We're trying to encourage people to set up showcase entries as we're hoping to add some extra features to the site once it's grown a bit, for example more monthly competitions with prizes if this one goes down well.

Entries are now closed! We will take a look at all the showcase entries and announce the winner as soon as possible :geek:

Drumroll please... and the winner is... @d2mini !

The winning showcase features great content and a very nice looking layout, and all the background information makes a very interesting read for anyone looking to plan their own tank. Special mention also goes to @Sakura2282, @noy and @Barch for great content and photos! It was a very close call!

Thanks so much to everyone who entered, watch this space for future competitions! :D

Congrats Dennis. Good choice, judges, but I still think it was wrong...oh well, the megamillions released the wrong numbers, too.

Well done Dennis - it was a really good entry!

Nice work too the other entries too - it was hard to pick between quite a few finalists, a very close call between a couple in particular. :)
