Waiting on my nitrates to go down what would be a good heater and circulation pump for this size tank. Do I need a protein skimmer.

Aqueon Pro series heaters have good reviews; I have had the 50 watt in my 14 gal for 6 months now (since they recalled the marineland one) and I got the 200 watt one for my new 60 gallon. You can grab them at petco or on amazon for a good price.
For circulation maybe a koralia nano or the 750? for the biocube they do make a skimmer that fits (since a hang on the back wouldn't work with the design), you might want to check out other peoples' experiences with it first. I didn't bother with one in mine....
