Jan 8, 2011 #4 Bifferwine I am a girl What have you tested for? You should test for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH and alkalinity. Those are the basics (along with salinity and temperature) that can impact your livestock most severely if something is off.

Jan 8, 2011 #5 Melosu58 Reef enthusiast I agree that ammonia poisoning is the cause for red or bleeding gills. I would say 33% PWC`s are a must.
