Blobs on Chaeto

The chaeto in my sump, which has never grown very well, has these almost translucent blobs at various intervals wrapped around the algae. They were not there when I got the algae. Are they bad or part of the plants growing cycle?

Sounds like slime algae...which is bad...but as long as it stays in the cheato area, it's ok to leave it there, instead of it going in your dt.

What type of lighting do you have over it, and do you turn it every once in a while and give it a good flow?

+1 smitty....one of the problems with chaeto growth is not just the bulb's wattage, it's the kelvin. I found best growth if the bulb is around 5500-6500k (I go more towards 6500K).
