Blue Starfish

Hello everyone!

today i seen a lovely blue starfish at the petstore and put him on hold. I heard that they can be hard to acclimatise (sp?) and take care of. Does anyone have some pointers?

They need a well established tank and a drip acclimation process. Go on Liveaquaria.com. Click under "acclimations" then click on "Drip Acclimation. It will show you how to do it. Also, when your on Liveaquaria look up starfish and the blue starfish it will say what it needs. They are Very sensative to changes in water. But once they like your tank they move all over the place.

Are you talking about the Blue starfish at AFK?
Pretty sure its a Linkia starfish, what are your ammonia, nitrates and nitrites levels bud?
Just do some reading up on it, start some google searches.

These guys are super hard to keep. They are very susceptible to bacterial infections which cause them to melt and any problems with water quality will also melt them. Also if they have been forcibly exposed to air, they can die too.

They are very beautiful... But a challenge to keep, as others have pointed out. Some people have success with them for years, but pristine water conditions are a must.
