buying a used tank

I am looking to upgrade and I found a tank on craigslist. I got a little nervous when they said I should start over with the tank because they haven't changed the water in a while. Should I be nervous? The live rock has no hair algea and they have living corals and fish.

No need to be nervous...when you get it, just do a nice size wc, I'd do about 50%.

+1 I wouldnt let it phase me in the least.. Just do a good size waterchange like smitty said then check the levels in a few days and waterchange accordingly after...

Could you put the livestock/corals in your existing setup, then if the substrate and/or rocks are junk restart that.

Its up to you tho. I mean if they don't have good looking live rock or something like crushed coral for substrate I would restart it too. Even use the opportunity to drill it =P But thats just me.
